What is a 404 error?

I’m assuming you know what a 404 error is, but if you don’t, it’s that annoying “page not found” internal server error you get when you access a broken link on a website.

Most of the 404 not found error pages that I’ve seen are usually pretty bland. Usually it’s just that page that people don’t think about. And not a lot of time is spent on making them look appealing. I guess because most people generally don’t specifically go looking for 404 error pages! Unless in this case, you’re me!

Below are a few interesting 404 error pages that I painstakingly scoured the web for, so you’d better appreciate them! Okay, not really, but honestly, I hope you like them and can now appreciate a 404 error page with some character!

HubSpot is apparently “the world’s #1 inbound marketing software platform”. It helps thousands of companies around the world to attract leads and convert them into customers.

Well, I think we all know who and what Facebook is. If you don’t, then maybe you’ve been living under a rock for the past 9+ years! Facebook is only the world’s largest social media networking website and service.

I don’t think I can explain what deviantART is any better than they have themselves. “As a community destination, deviantART is a platform that allows emerging and established artists to exhibit, promote, and share their works within a peer community dedicated to the arts.”

Ummm, errr, Google… Okay, this is another one of those “you’ve been living under a rock” scenarios, if you haven’t heard of Google! You probably used Google to find this blog post that you’re reading right now!

CSS-Tricks is more than a website – it’s a community and a way of life for some people. Full of great tips (not necessarily CSS-related), handy code snippets and so much more, it’s been a valuable resource that I’ve used countless times over the years since I stumbled across it.

Speaking of stumbling across things. StumbleUpon is a cool web search discovery engine that helps find and recommend new and interesting content to you from the web.
